Phil Roberts

Phil joined the Council in 2004 as Head of Housing and Property Services before moving to the position of Corporate Director in 2015 and then Deputy Chief Executive in 2018. His current role continues to focus on housing services and also covers the Council’s asset base, as well services supporting vulnerable people throughout the District. His responsibilities also include communications, partnership work and a number of internal support functions such as ICT and corporate research.

During his time with the Council, housing services have moved from strength to strength with performance levels amongst the best in the country. The new build programme has ensured that the Council has an excellent track record in replacing sold properties and the innovative approach to design and construction taken by the Council has led to widespread recognition. The Council takes pride in supporting 100 flourishing communities and a significant part of Phil’s role focuses on understanding service needs across the District and developing long term corporate priorities which will address these challenges.

Before joining the Council, Phil worked for an authority in Essex where he started as graduate trainee and left as an Assistant Head of Housing with responsibilities for the investment and condition of the Council’s housing stock. Phil studied for a degree in Public Administration and an MA in Housing Strategy and Management. He qualified as a Chartered Secretary and is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Phil is married to wife, Karen, and they have two children. He enjoys a wide range of sports and is a keen follower of the various Leicester based teams. Phil enjoys keeping fit and is a regular badminton player at a local club.
